U.S. government figures show that Washington leads all other states in exports to the UAE, with totals reaching $2.8 billion in 2011. Much of the trade figures are driven by Boeing commercial aircraft sales. The UAE’s three major airlines—Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways, and FlyDubai—are the largest purchasers of Boeing products in the world.
Along with a senior delegation of UAE officials, Ambassador Al Otaiba attended events to inaugurate the Emirates Airlines flight and was present at a ceremony honoring the delivery of the 1,000th Boeing 777, an aircraft manufactured in Everett, Washington, and chosen by Emirates Airlines for its fleet.
Nonstop service is now available on Emirates Airlines between Dubai and seven major U.S. cities.
